30 Minutes by train from Krakow is the Wieliczka Salt Mine which tourists can visit. A guide takes you up to 130 Meters under the Polish ground. The mine dates bac to the 1600's, it's just incredible inside. It's like an underground city, complete with chapels, a lake, many huge caverns, a restaurant, theatre and almost everything is made from salt. The statues are all carved from salt, as well as the crystals on the chandeliers hanging in the mine. You will spend hours exploring the shafts, caverns and rooms inside the salt mine.
