Festival of Tabla 2023 - Raaginder | Vivek Pandya

Raaginder presents Raga Shyam Kalyan on Violin, accompanied by Vivek Pandya on Tabla. Raaginder Raaginder is a violinist and music composer from the San Francisco Bay Area. Hailing from the school of Maihar-Seni Gharana, Raaginder implements improvisation, rhythmic patterns, and the sounds of Indian Classical music on a modified five-string violin. While keeping that foundation, Raaginder is also immersed in contemporary music. He has produced several albums in which the sounds of Indian classical violin and hip-hop music intermingle. These works bring forth lyrical and rhythmic sections which stem from traditional elements while also infusing a modern touch. Raaginder has performed in prominent venues all over the world such as The White House, Staples Center, Wembley Arena, Kennedy Center, and many more. Through these endeavors and experiences, Raaginder's art brings forth a new, intense, and interesting sound for his audiences to hear. Vivek Pandya Vivek Pandya, trailblazing tabla prodigy, was taken to world renowned tabla maestro Pt Anindo Chatterjee for intensive training at the age of 4 and a half years old. His prodigious talent was appreciated online, resulting in worldwide recognition at a young age. At the age of 9, He made his debut on New York City Radio Live at Columbia University. Alongside a strong knowledge about the tradition of tabla, Vivek has a contemporary mindset that allows him to be one of the most sought after accompanists in his generation of tabla players. He is known for his flair, one finger teentaal and a syllable called “dhir dhir” which is played with only the palm of the hand. Vivek has collaborated on fusion albums such as “20 for 20” with cellist Inbal Segev, ” Strive” with Satwinder Pal Singh and ghazal “Harsoo Dikhaye Dete” by Gayatri Asokan. Vivek has toured India, Canada and USA and earned the recognition and respect of not only music lovers, but maestros of the music alike.
