Unfortunately, the insurance companies are only wanting to cover roofs up to 15 years and then demand a reroof. I’m sorry but roofs are not cheap! So, what can we do about this insurance issue? One way is to jump up to a 50 year shingle and 6 nail it. That will make a big difference against blow offs in high winds. It is great if you use 6 nails and a 50 year roofing product but if you don’t correct the ventilation or insulate the attic your roof will deteriorate very quickly. You will then be back at square one and that would stink!
