The history of brigands and brigandesses like Michelina Di Cesare, who roamed the Matese mountains in the aftermath of the unification of Italy. The Brigantessa knife, dedicated to her, is a collector's item, a philological reconstruction of the knife that, in the mid-nineteenth century, was used by the brigands of southern Italy in their daily lives. Light, handy, sturdy, and folding, conveniently pocket-sized, it was usually used alongside other more "offensive" knives, which were instead used for hand-to-hand combat.
