#greateranglia #markstey #stadler #greaterangliatrains #markstetstation #gainsboroughline 2nd visit to Marks Tey on a perfect summers evening and 1st visit in 2 years with my last visit in July 2019. Marks Tey station first opened in 1849 as Marks Tey Junction before being renamed to todays name in 1889. The 3 platform layout at Marks Tey which interchange is provided by hourly services from Sudbury although non Electrified. The site of the station located near to the A120 opened at the same time as Witham. The Gainsborough Line to Sudbury was opened in 1860 by the Colne Valley and Halstead Railway before being extended via the Stour Valley Railway to Cambridge in 1865 which also enabled trains to run to Colchester. However services were cut back to Sudbury in 1967 when the line from there to Cambridge was closed by Dr Beeching. Services from Sudbury continued to run into Colchester and sometimes St Botolphs now today known as Colchester Town until the mid 1990s when services were cut back to Marks Tey. The ticket Hall on the London Bound platform dates from 2017 At the time of filming Greater Anglia was still completing its fleet overhaul The new Class 745s and 755s built by Stadler began running in November 2019 with the Class 755s displacing the Class 153s, 156s and 170s. Class 755s run in 3 and 4 car formations although on the Gainsborough line served by 3 cars however due to short platforms both at Marks Tey and Sudbury only the doors on the first two coaches open. Although they can be stabled at Colchester C.S.D. however all 745s and 755s are maintained at Crown Point depot in Norwich. The Class 745s displaced the Class 90s between November 2019 and March 2020 with the Class 90 locos moved to Freightliner to replace the Class 86s They have recently just replaced the 379s on Stansted Express although due to the 720s running behind 379s moved on to Cambridge North and Hertford East services although all trains including the Class 317s, 321s and 322s should be replaced by summer 2022. The 745/0s and 745/1s May look similar but they differ slightly with 1st class on the 745/0s however those on 745/1s for Stansted Expeess are standard class only The Class 321s been on Great Eastern since 1988 were in the last months of operation although were due to be withdrawn in December 2019 however as mentioned with the Issues of the building of the Class 720s meant some are still in service however to meet the PRM requirements the older 321s must be paired with either a Renatus 321 or a ex Northern 321/9 or 322. The Class 720s built by bombardier although since merged into Alstom in January 2021 are slowly taking over Although originally were supposed to be 111 sets in total with 89 five car 720/5s and 10 car 720/1s when originally ordered in August 2016 but in September 2020 Greater Anglia changed the 720/1s to five cars as well to enable flexibility which will mean by the time all Class 720s are in service there will be 133 in total Music used: JJD - Adventure Music provided by NCS Video link: NoCopyrightSounds • JJD - Adventure | Glitch Hop | NCS - Copyr...
