How far would you go for the perfect selfie? A cliff edge over a thousand-foot drop? The top of a skyscraper? The rim of an active volcano? Every day, millions risk their lives for that perfect shot. They balance on train tracks, dangle from rooftops, pose at waterfall edges. Between 2011 and 2017, at least 259 people died taking selfies—more than shark attacks killed in the same period. Most walk away with their photo and their lives. But some push too far. Meenakshi Moorthy and Vishnu Viswanath were travel influencers who understood these dangers. They warned their followers about risky photography. They posted about deadly wind gusts. They preached safety while chasing the perfect shot.
