Exploring Mauritania | One of Africa’s Most Unique Countries

In this video I explore Mauritania, one of the most unique and overlooked countries in Africa. From the capital city to the desert, I take you inside daily life in a country where Arab and West African cultures come together. I start in the capital city Nouakchott, one of the most unusual capitals I’ve ever visited. I explore the streets, visit markets, and show how life flows differently here. I stop at the massive Saudi Mosque, the largest mosque in the city, where the architecture reflects deep Islamic roots. I visit the local markets to buy traditional Mauritanian clothing, including the daraa and headscarf worn by locals in both the city and the desert. Then I head to the coast to visit the Nouakchott fish market, where fishermen pull in the catch of the day and the entire beach turns into a chaotic and colorful seafood market. Next, I explore the surrounding Sahara Desert, where I meet Mauritanian nomads, learn about desert life, and try fresh camel milk in the middle of the dunes. This was one of the most unforgettable parts of the trip. I also explain how to get around in Mauritania using local public transportation, how the Mauritanian ouguiya currency works, and which languages are spoken across different regions. If you're curious about traveling to Mauritania, what makes Nouakchott so different, or what daily life looks like in one of the least visited countries in West Africa, this video is for you. #Mauritania #Nouakchott #WaleedTravels #MauritaniaVlog
