Then write to us at: [email protected] In Switzerland, most cleaning ladies over the age of 55 come from Portugal. They came to Switzerland, often without papers and without training. And so they started cleaning to earn money. They integrated, learned the language, built a family, and thus their lives in Switzerland. All their lives, they scrubbed, swept, and removed other people's dirt – and all for very little pay. And when they reach retirement age, they realize that their pension isn't enough to stay in expensive Switzerland. Florence Fernex and Emanuelle Bressan-Blondeau accompanied several women from Portugal in their work in western Switzerland.
