It comes with an excellent port selection: USB Type-C port supporting: USB 3.1 Gen 2 (up to 10 Gbps) DisplayPort over USB-C - Thunderbolt 3 Three USB 3.1 Gen1 ports with one featuring power-off USB charging Mini DisplayPort 1.4 HDMI 2.0 with HDCP support Ethernet (RJ-45) port Microphone-in jack Headphone/speaker jack Although sadly it is missing my beloved SD Card slot, which for me, with these being targeted towards creators I think they need to bring that back in the future models. But speaking of creators these screens are some of the best screens on the market for creators. The ConceptD 7 comes with a UHD 4k screen that reaches a brightness of 400 nits and has a color gamut range of Delta E 2 @ 100% Adobe RGB & sRGB, plus 88% DCI-P3 these screens are great for any video editor, designer, or photographer requiring optimal color accuracy. If you’re curious about the exact specs or pricing of this model you can use the link in the description below. Now if you do use that link I will get a small commission but at no extra cost to you. The screen is thin and light with a minimal bezel that totes a 720p webcam along the top edge. It weighs in at 4.6 Lbs and is 14.11 (w) x 10.04 (d) x 0.7 (h) which is only slightly heavier than the MacBook Pro and the same thickness. Speaking of I think the Macbook Pro has one of the best audio experiences, but this laptop is hot on its tail with great high-tones, mids, and even a little base. If you want to see a full comparison between the Macbook Pro and ConceptD 7 you can check it out in the YouTube cards above or the description below. Alright, let’s look at the Keyboard and Trackpad. I like the trackpad, I have complimented this extensively on the ConceptD 3. And I think it is in the top 3 list of trackpads that I have had the opportunity to test. It has good hardware for the click and great touch gestures from Microsoft Precision drivers for creatives on the go. The Keyboard is soft and quiet. It has great Keytravel and good key spacing. However, I don’t like the position or size of the right shift key. I find myself accidentally hitting the up arrow from time to time, which causes typos. Also, the backlight on the Keys is a little weak and spotty, but as far as the user experience is concerned this is a well built Keyboard that functions very well. The chassis is all-aluminum that has been put through a micro-arc oxidation process to keep from staining and turning yellow. I really like the thoughtfulness of these details from Acer. For a thin and light laptop, it has good battery life. Roughy 6:30 hours for web browsing and streaming and then about 4 hours for intensive design tasks and video editing. Ok now for the important part. The performance section of the video. Specs Processor: Intel i7-9750H GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q RAM: 32GB DDR4 @2667 MHz Storage: 1TB SSD 7240 Frames Rendered - 2:56 4k Full Quality Playback Smooth 4k 9-Minute Export to 4k - 6:30 4k 9-Minute Export Battery - 8:58 4k 9-Minute Export to 1080p - 2:19.3 While using this laptop I found that it used no fan while at idle and only kicked on lightly sporadically when browsing the web, but it was almost unnoticeable at around 30 dBs. When exporting on battery power the fans only kicked up to 34 dBs, and when plugged in for full power export the highest I saw was 52 dBs. This laptop has excellent control on fan speed and cooling. Fan Decibels - Power Export: 52 dB Fan Decibels - On Battery Export: 34 dB Fan Decibels - Idle: No Fan Although I am not a motion designer I am trying to incorporate more tests to motion designers in order to help with your buying decision. I ran some After Effects tests using Puget’s After Effects benchmarks. If you want to run these are your current system and see how it compares to the ConceptD 7 I have provided a link in the description below: Puget After Effects Benchmark: Link Overall this is a well built thin and light laptop that is capable of a variety of tasks for creative professionals.
