'Music and I' - Rajeev Taranath
Narrated by C. Chandrashekar In the mid 1980s, the sarod maestro Rajeev Taranath was selected by the Government of India to tour Europe as a cultural ambassador and perform in various cities. Before the tour, a few ardent admirers got together and arranged a small felicitation at Yavanika, Bangalore. At the request of the organizers, he wrote the following essay for their souvenir brochure, a personal account of his search for identity through music. The narration here is by his long time friend C Chandrashekhar. Much gratitude is due to him for his caring preservation of the text and his loving recitation of it here. We also offer our deep appreciation to the film editor Noah Weber and audio engineer Tim White for this film creation. The music in the film is from a concert in 20026 of Rajeev Taranath performing alap in raga Kafi Kanada.
