So much so that he is called Raja Ghepan (King Ghepan). This is the temple in Sissu, where all vehicles stop and pray. There is a sub 5800 m peak by the same name that rises above Sissu village. In old days, people of Lahaul fought their wars under the banner of Lord Gyephang. Every three years the deity is taken out of the temple in a procession, earlier animal sacrifices were a norm in various villages to honour the deity. Sissu village is situated on the right bank of the river Chandra (3000 m). It is a green village blessed with a huge waterfall and dense plantations of willows and poplars on both sides of the road. Terrace farming is practised and entire hills are are green with potato, peas, barley and cabbage and other vegetables.
