Illicit Nesting Site

May 3, 2026 In late May of 2022 a windstorm blew down at least a dozen trees around the property. Most were poplars, including a huge 18-incher that fell across the driveway. I removed most of it, except the lower main trunk. It has crowded the driveway ever since. I left it in place because of its un-readable potential to bind a chainsaw. After four years of study and fret, and removing some barrier branches, I give it a go. Then on to another poplar blowdown to extract a new splitting stump. Life on the bog is about living life in the slow lane, observing and recording the intelligence and serenity of the natural world. Insley, my female lab, and I live on forty-acres of forest and bog, sharing frequent moments of unexpected surprise.
