In this video preschool deaf and hard-of-hearing students are learning the sounds in a word (using FONEMZ) and then what letters make those sounds (using the FONZABET). You will see a little girl who is deaf and had Down Syndrome identifying the sounds in a word! FONEMZ is a fun interactive tool that teaches, phonemic awareness, articulation, and literacy skills to students of all walks of life and all ages. It is an evidence-based practice that has been very effective with Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students, children with autism, developmental delay, apraxia, dyslexia, and various communication and learning disabilities, from early preschool to high school.
