SWCP Day 40 Starcross to Salcombe Mouth 4K

With some settled weather forecast I packed my bag and headed back to the path. After catching the ferry from Starcross to Exmouth I enjoyed an easy walk along the promenade past the RNLI Satation. A short climb at Rodney Point brought me to The Geoneedle which marks the start of the Jurassic Coast. I continued along grassy cliff tops before reaching the Devon Cliffs Holiday Park and their noisy MOD neighbours! Passing several crumbling cliffs I climbed up to West Down Beacon before descending again into Budleigh Salterton. When you reach the car park at the end of the promenade, aim for the bridge on the far side and do not continue along the beach as there is no access here across the Otter. After I had walked around The Otter Estuary Nature Reserve I climbed gently up to Brandy Head Observation Post which offered some welcome shade and benches. I soon reached Ladram Bay Holiday Park before climbing up to High Peak only to then descend again into Sidmouth. One last but tough climb out of Sidmouth before I turned inland to my campsite at Salcombe Regis.
