The True Measure of Community Service | A Rotary Impact Documentary

What is the true measure of a successful community service project? Is it the number of people who attend? Or is it the number of lives that genuinely change? This documentary follows the Iodized Salt Awareness and Educational Materials Distribution Programme conducted by the Rotary Club of Pokhara Lakeside at Dibyajyoti Basic School in Pokhara, Nepal. Rather than ending the project after the awareness session, we returned a few days later to understand its true impact. We spoke with the principal, teachers, parents, and students to discover what they remembered, what they had learned, and whether the programme had influenced their daily choices. For me, this represents the meeting point of Emotional Intelligence and community service. Meaningful service is not only about delivering information - it is about listening, understanding, and ensuring that the people we serve have truly received the message in a way that creates lasting behavioural change. I firmly believe that the success of any awareness programme should not be measured solely by participation, but by impact. My hope is that this documentary encourages Rotary clubs, NGOs, educators, and community leaders everywhere to look beyond attendance and begin measuring what truly matters: meaningful and lasting transformation.
