Between Ferries: Fish under Manly Wharf in Sydney Harbour

Fishing or diving is not allowed from Manly Wharf so I dropped my Gopro over the side between ferries to see what was down below. As the camera rapidly sinks to the bottom you can fit see a school of very small baitfish, and the silhouettes of a few predatory Tailor underneath them. The camera then descends through a school of Yellowtail before hitting the bottom. After a couple of bumpy bits where I tie off the camera, numerous small black and white striped Mado can be seen. Some of the other fish that put in an appearance are Red Morwong, Leatherjackets including a Pygmy Leatherjacket, Pike, Sydney Cardinalfish, Bream, Sweep, Wrasse, Blue Groper (?) and several others. It is interesting to note the noise pollution from the ferries and other activities around the wharf. This is a continuous video with no editing. The sound was recorded in camera by the Gopro Hero HD1. No filters or colour correction were used, the footage is as it came straight from the camera. At a guess the water might be 5 – 6m deep at high tide. Other videos showing a greater variety of species under Manly Wharf to come soon.
