I was quite caught off guard when I first heard this, most likely didn't know what to expect. I saw the millions of views, but still couldn't have known what was about to happen to me. Whether or not you are a Believer like me, I'm sure that this song, and this specific version of it, will probably affect you emotionally. There just seems to be no doubt that the singer and writer has been through some very significant stuff in his life. It's like a call from the deep, from a place of real despair. But, also a song of overcoming, of actually coming out the other side. The vocal style is very raw and unpretentious, with some interesting vowel shapes and styling. This kind of sound and style will not necessarily appeal to everyone, including myself. However, the genius of the simplicity of melody and lyric, combined with the raw emotional connection and vocal delivery, is undeniable! What do YOU think about this?
