Voices from Kiskeam Co. Cork
Recorded in August 2014. The voices are - Johny Murphy postmaster for many decades. He fought valiently to keep the Post Office open - appearing on National Television - and succeeded! Even now it is still open. He still calls in there every Saturday morning (June 2021) The second voices are the lovely people running one of the shops. They tell of how Kiskeam was quite slow getting modern amenities (and how their shop was burned down!) Maurice O'Keefe, so well known in musical circles. There is no better man to tell the story of how Kiskeam got its name. These are just some of the voices. See the utube video "Its Just Kiskeam" (on the RealCork channel. A lovely village with so many warm and friendly people.
