#Vlog4 This vlog is about a journey in Asia's Largest Cocoon market and how silk yarn is made. As Karnataka is the largest producer of silk in India, accounting 1/3rd of the country production. The Centre of Karnataka silk industry is Ramanagara known as "Silk City". here, Silk moths are reared, cocoons are nurtured processed and sold. Govt. cocoon market in Ramanagara is one of the largest in the country. About 40k to 50k of cocoons are sold everyday. farmers bring this cocoons away as Bijikere several hours of journey. Each farmers bring in 50-150kg of cocoons and stack up in the market. Around 700 silk reelers participate in the auction everyday and buy cocoons for processing yarns.. Silk labours makes 1kg of silk yarn from 7kg to 9kg of cocoons. About 7 lakhs tonnes of raw silk is produced in Ramanagara every year.
