An ethernet cable is eight wires in four twisted pairs — orange, green, blue and brown, each a striped wire and a solid wire. That is the whole cable. What trips people up is the color order at the plug, so this video puts both standards side by side. T568B, the common one, runs white-orange, orange, white-green, blue, white-blue, green, white-brown, brown across pins one to eight. T568A swaps only the orange and green pairs. Pick one standard, use it on both ends, and you have a normal straight-through cable that connects a device to a switch or router. We cover the RJ45 pin numbering with the clip facing away, straight-through versus crossover cabling, and why auto-MDIX means you almost never need a crossover cable anymore. Then the crimp itself, step by step: strip the outer jacket, untwist and line the eight wires up in order, trim them flush and even, seat them fully into the RJ45 so the jacket clamps inside the plug, and crimp. Keep the twists close to the connector for solid Cat5e and Cat6 performance, slide a boot on first, and verify the finished cable with a cheap cable tester before you run it through a wall. This is low-voltage data, not mains power, so the cable is safe to handle.
