Getting ready for Windows! Window Opening Prep, Flashing Details! And we have visitors!

Getting ready for Windows! In part 16 of the Eventide project we get our window delivery! On this project we are installing @andersenwindows triple pane 400 series with Storm watch protection. We are delighted to have visitors from @finehomebuildingmagazine . I have had opportunities to work with FHB in the past. But this is the first time I have been able to host them. We cover all the basics of a good window install. Preparing the opening, flashing details, installing the window, and a basic head flashing. I cover a few of the details that are important to us in maintaining continuity of our control layers. Why we sheath over our window openings when it makes sense to. I cover how this reduces the moisture load on the building. With all the openings ready for flashing details, we install our sloped sill in the window opening. With the sloped sill and back dam in place we start to flash the sills. I am using @SIGA_northamerica Rissan grey and pre made corners to flash some of the window openings on this project. We are almost ready to put windows in. 00:00 Introduction 00:18 Andersen Window Delivery 01:22 FHB comes to visit 01:55 Splayed opening 02:36 Continuity of Air Control 03:15 Sheath over openings and why we do! 04:15 Camera has a close call! 04:26 Router our openings 05:00 Why we wrap zip into the opening 06:04 Air control details 06:47 How we make and install our sloped sill 07:55 Flashing the sill 09:17 Siga Premade corner #apprenticeshipisanobligation #build #building #carpenter #carpentersareadyingbreed #builder #window #windows #flashing
