Alone But Not Lonely

People hear the word alone and assume it means the same as lonely. This song is about the moment I stopped letting it mean that. Loneliness is an absence. What I found out in the high desert of Arizona is a presence — of wind, of purpose, of a self I'd been too busy surviving to meet.. The silence here doesn't hollow me out. It's where I finally got quiet enough to hear myself think. This is the life I was too afraid to dream of. I'm not afraid of it anymore. Alone — but not lonely. There's a difference.
