Is Myrtle Wilson the most tragic character in The Great Gatsby? | Top grade analysis

Out of all the characters in The Great Gatsby, I honestly think that Myrtle Wilson is the most tragic one. She's married to a man she disdains, and she can never attain the identity or social status that she so desperately wants. To top it all off, Myrtle also dies a violent death, but it almost seems like dying is a better alternative than living in her case. What makes her such a sad character, and how should we as readers empathise with Myrtle's plight for a deeper understanding of the novel as a whole? Watch this video to find out, as I analyse all the key moments in which Myrtle appears, specifically Chapters 2 and 7. ❤️ Please LIKE + SUBSCRIBE! 💯CHECK OUT MY OTHER GATSBY VIDEOS: Analysing the 'American Dream' in The Great Gatsby:    • The truth about the American Dream in The ...   Why is Gatsby a tragic figure?    • Why is The Great Gatsby tragic? | Top grad...   Analysing the most important symbol in The Great Gatsby:    • Analysing the most important symbol in The...   💫 FOLLOW MY INSTAGRAM to DM me with questions: https://bit.ly/393zRvg 💌JOIN MY MAILING LIST for monthly digests of all the good stuff I write and create for English Lit students: https://bit.ly/3l0bYHC Email me at [email protected]
