We trace what the manuscripts actually prove — that the text was already circulating in Greek before the third century — and how scholars like Karen King and Christopher Tuckett reason their way to a second-century date, while agreeing on one thing the title tempts you to believe but isn't true: Mary Magdalene did not write it.
