On July 17, in Kelebia, Bács-Kiskun County, postal worker Imre R. passed away. The healthy man collapsed in the scorching July heat, where it was 41 degrees Celsius even in the shade, while delivering mail. He lay helpless for a long time on the burning street, his body overheating. Eventually, a passerby alerted the paramedics, who managed to cool his body temperature down to 43 degrees before placing him in the rescue helicopter, but they were unable to save his life at the hospital. Imre R. was 59 years old. This tragic news brings to mind many other cases: tens of thousands of homeless people who deserve a better fate, masses of starving children, or those who are forced to wait over a year for one of the country's deteriorating healthcare institutions to relieve their suffering. Not to mention the inhumane government decision during COVID-19 to empty 60% of hospital beds, sending home countless dying, amputee, cancer, and rehabilitation patients within a single weekend, completely senselessly.
