What is car rodeo? In short, car rodeo is racing a scrap car on a defined area. The purpose of the car rodeo is to have one last fun day with the car and with friends and acquaintances and then take the car to scrap metal. A heat (lap) starts with approximately 15 cars that drive into each other until a set number remains. These cars then move on to the next round. After the heats you normally get the repechage rounds and final rounds. The day then ends with the wreck heats where everything that is still running goes onto the track. Naturally, the cars are divided into various classes based on size and weight. While in the early years the battle scene was demarcated with some straw bales, in recent decades the track has been surrounded by a ditch that has become larger and more effective over time because speeds increased and safety comes first. Where in the past a maximum of 80 riders could participate for years and the riders still had to be drawn, registration has been more or less open in recent years. The condition is that the driver must live in 'church' Nieuwleusen. As a result, the rodeo has grown into by far the largest car rodeo in the country, with approximately 160 participants in recent years.
