This time, I'll be introducing how to mix medicines. This article is especially important for new pharmacists. When I was a new pharmacist, I thought "Ointment mixing is something only prescribed by dermatologists, so I probably won't see it in the field." Contrary to that belief, mixing ointments in the field is common. In Tokyo, there's usually at least one dermatologist near a pharmacy. And not just dermatologists, pediatricians often prescribe mixed ointments. Of the 10 or so pharmacies I've worked at, most were equipped with ointment mixers. I think they're more common than powders and liquids. My first job didn't have an ointment mixer, so I mixed ointments using a spatula and ointment board. Even though I studied pharmacy school, I didn't remember it at all. When I got to the field, there were many types of ointments, and in large quantities. I sometimes had to mix 500g in total. Even though I was still in my 20s, I wondered if I'd develop tendonitis. I remember the excitement I felt when I first saw an ointment mixer. As a gadget lover, I'm actually a little excited about this lol. In this video, I'm assuming a store has an ointment mixer and introduced the steps!
