Today, I'm going to install a Kataya low-down seat bracket on my Monkey 125 to make it easier to attach and remove the seat. The purpose of this is to make it easier to attach and remove the seat; lowering is just a side effect. I was actually planning to buy a one-touch seat bracket that isn't low-down, but I accidentally bought one instead. I'll include a link to the auction I bought it from, but you can find it by searching "low-down seat bracket" on Yahoo! Auctions. It has a strong magnetic force, so cardboard is sandwiched between it. It has a super-strong neodymium magnet, so if you accidentally stick it to the main body before attaching it, it will be difficult to remove. The insert side has tricot cloth on it to prevent scratches. First, remove the bolts securing the seat with a 12mm socket wrench. The seat can be removed by sliding it backwards. This claw on the seat catches on this part of the body, holding it in place. Next, remove the three nuts on the seat side. This bolt has an anti-loosening nut. Actually, when I was removing the front-most nut, the bolt turned with it and I couldn't remove it. When I had my Monkey in for its annual inspection the other day, I asked a mechanic at Honda Dream for help, and they were able to remove it successfully. I'm really grateful to the mechanic. Now, I'll install the insert and temporarily tighten the original nut. I'll attach the catcher to the body and install it with the original bolt. This bolt is 54 Newton meters. But I wonder if the torque is really that strong? The service manual says that 12mm bolts and nuts are 54 Newton meters, so I don't think I'll be wrong... I often get the torque wrong and end up stripping threads, so I still worry about it until the very end. Then, I'll try putting the seat back on. Hmm? It doesn't seem to be attach...
