Webinar: Euro-Argo data practices: Profiling float observations

This is an edited webinar recording of the Euro-Argo webinar, organised on 4 June 2026. The webinar was organised as part of a GEORGE webinar series that focused on the data practices of EMSO ERIC, Euro-Argo ERIC, and ICOS ERIC. Each session covers RI and provide an overview of how data is produced, processed, stored, and made accessible within that organisation. His background is in high performance numerical modelling, of which he has applied in various marine domains during his career. He oversees all ERIC activities, from managing the ERIC office team based in Brest, France, to coordinating with the twelve European ERIC members. Delphine Dobler, Data Scientist Delphine Dobler is data scientist for the Euro-Argo ERIC office. She has an expertise in physical oceanography, data science, and quality processes. Among other duties, she coordinates, jointly with OceanOPS, the updates and improvements of the Argo metadata information, as well as the follow-up of data processing to level-2 (also know as the delayed-mode processing in Argo jargon). Guillaume Maze, Research Scientist Guillaume Maze is a Research Scientist at Ifremer. With a Ph.D. in Physical Oceanography, he has dedicated his career to understanding ocean-atmosphere interactions and their impact on the ocean surface and climate. He has served on various Argo-associated committees and recent projects, such as argopy, Euro-Argo RISE and Euro-Argo ONE, aim to innovate and improve ocean observation techniques, including data analysis and access. Claire Gourcuff, Science Officer Claire Gourcuff is Science Officer at the Euro-Argo ERIC office. She holds a PhD in physical oceanography and has been working at Euro-Argo for 10 years, coordinating and promoting scientific activities of Euro-Argo members. She has been co-chairing the international Argo Data Management Team since 2022. Romain Cancouët, Operations Manager Romain Cancouët is the Operations Manager at the Euro-Argo ERIC Office. He has a background in Engineering and Ocean & Climate Physics. He has continuously worked in the field of ocean mapping and marine observations, mainly in the Research landscape. Involved in many aspects of the Argo programme workflow, he is also experienced in data management and technical monitoring activities. Clara Douglas, Biogeochemical Science Officer Clara Douglas is the Biogeochemical Science Officer at the Euro-Argo ERIC office. Clara has recently completed a PhD in Oceanography and is currently working across several European projects, coordinating and promoting Argo activities, producing training materials and carrying out delayed-mode quality control of GEORGE's BGC Argo float.
