Pump advance karne ke fayde aur nuksaan? Pump advance in diesel engine To understand it , first we have to understand the working mechanism of power stroke of diesel engine. In normal case when pump is at original position , diesel is spray-ed in cylinder at TDC (uppermost position of piston). Diesel burn with compressed air and exhaust gases push the piston down and thus power stroke completes. But if you advance the diesel pump then diesel is sprayed in cylinder early i.e. before the piston reaches to the TDC . As soon as the diesel is sprayed it burns and produce the gases that try to push the piston down but crankshaft push the piston upwards. At this position two opposite force is created inside cylinder . And due to this.... 1. You will feel more vibration in engine. 2. Chances of damage to piston head, piston rings and cylinder head is increased. Now lets talk about advantages of pump advance--- -- engine runs hot so in extreme cold whether condition it help to maintain oil viscosity hence less smoke after cold start. -- cold starting is early especially in extreme cold whether. --- produce better sound of engine -- Diesel stay more time (micro seconds) in cylinder so chances of un-burnt diesel particle is less hence less smoke. Dis-advantages of pump advance-- -- engine runs hot , this is not good if whether is hot -- When you advance the pump and change the pump rmp setting and diesel supply setting(more diesel ) . Pump warranty will be lost. -- Chance of damage/ crack to piston head, piston rings and cylinder head is increased. Does pump advance increases the power ? Unless you increase the diesel supply from pump , power will not be increased by pump advance. But if you increased the diesel supply and rpm from the pump along with pump advance then output power will be increased . Conclusion : Who should advance the pump? Category 1: -- just to change the sound of engine -- myth of increased power by pump advance only -- just because other has done , I will also do -- middle/lower farmers who do normal use of tractor For all in category 1 , don't advance the pump unless mechanic feels it is necessary. Category 2 : -- cold start delay -- extreme cold condition -- use vehicle to perform stunt / competition -- extreme load carrier / commercial use For all in this category 2 , you can advance the pump by 2 - 3 mm .
