This time, I'll introduce our new "little housemate," show you how our garden survived the recent double typhoon, and share our summer harvest. First, let's talk about the medaka fish living on our balcony. On the day of the typhoon, the heavy rain nearly overflowed their pot, and I watched anxiously. They've actually been living with us quietly since April, but this is the first time we're showing them on video. I'll briefly look back on the lovely days since April, including preparing a new pot for their healthy newborn babies. And then, thankfully, our garden plants survived the typhoon without major damage. The cucumbers are thriving, the leeks are doing well, and the eggplants are growing well, absorbing plenty of fertilizer. The corn, which was knocked down in the last typhoon, stood strong this time without a scratch. On the other hand, we had the unfortunate experience of some birds nibbling on our ripe tomatoes… To prevent splitting from the rain, we harvested them a little early and will carefully watch over them as our "prized daughters." Finally, we harvested the potatoes we planted in early spring because they had sprouted – the kind you buy at the supermarket. When we dug up the soil, we were surprised to find a whole bunch of magnificent potatoes!
