After a few hours, they couldn't find their way back. The guide rope had come loose, and they barely had enough air left to continue. While Guillem tried his luck finding an alternative route, Xisco was left alone, almost in darkness, in a gallery with high levels of carbon dioxide. The rescue and cave diving operations were extremely difficult. Hours and days passed, and reaching him seemed impossible. The GEAS and GREIM teams worked together, risking their lives in every inch of the cave.
