Compact cars, which had been shunned in Korea, are making a comeback recently. The skyrocketing oil prices resulting from the aftermath of the U.S.-Iran war appear to be the primary cause. From January of this year to last month, the number of registered compact cars in Korea reached approximately 28,000. This represents an increase of nearly 13% compared to the same period last year. The Morning was the vehicle leading this growth. While the Ray and Casper remained at similar levels compared to last year, the Morning surged by nearly 60%. Among compact cars, the Morning has the lowest selling price and the highest fuel efficiency. Just like the Tico, which gained popularity during the Gulf War when oil prices skyrocketed.
