Männlich, weiblich, queer? Gender-Trend in der Bibelauslegung | Magstrauss
#magstrauss #catholic #pride The claim is as bold as it is powerful: Genesis 1:27 ("male and female he created them") is a merism—a poetic figure that refers not only to two genders, but to an entire spectrum. Queer theologians and the Catholic Bible Society see this as biblical evidence for the diversity of gender identities. But does the Hebrew text really support this? In this video, I dissect the merism thesis scientifically: philologically, exegetically, and hermeneutically. I show why Katrin Brockmöller and Thomas Hieke's argument is methodologically not exegesis, but eisegesis: an imposition of modern gender categories onto an ancient text that thinks quite differently. Queer theologians and the Catholic Bible Society see this as biblical evidence for the diversity of gender identities.
