MGM MICHEL - POW (Point of View) — Modern Jazz Fusion 2026

"Point of View" (POW) represents the intersection between the rigor of compositions from the 1995-1997 period and the technologically matured sonic vision of the year 2026. #jazz #jazzfusion #modernjazz #virtuoso #experimentalmusic #contemporaryjazz In cinematography and photography, "Point of View" is the fundamental grammar of the image. Although the tools may seem limited—aperture, shutter speed, color temperature, or focal length—they are the ones that dictate how a story is told. POW essentially marks the position from which we choose to frame reality. It is a game of distances that selectively reveals or conceals the truth. The Paradox of Focus. A fascinating phenomenon occurs here: in the desire to enhance a detail, we often lose the perspective of the whole. Conversely, by emphasizing the whole to capture the general atmosphere, fine details blur. This visual tension here becomes a sonic philosophy. In the search for truth—whether artistic or existential—we ask ourselves: what is the optimal point of view to correctly understand a context? The solution seems to lie in that methodical doubt discussed by the skeptics (Pyrrhonian Skepticism) and, later, René Descartes. It is the refusal to believe that what appears to be true is necessarily so, choosing instead to use suspicion as a high-powered lens. This interrogative stance—the suspension of judgment until research is complete—is the only path that allows us to approach the essence of a subject. The solution this album proposes is "creative suspicion." To reject the idea that what seems true at first glance is inherently real. Pure objectivity or subjectivity does not reveal the truth; only an interrogative position, limitless curiosity, and the refusal to believe blindly can bring us closer to the essence. Armed with this curiosity, I tackled the sketches from three decades ago. The music resolved today does not belong to a specific genre, but is a fusion of interpretative techniques designed to translate the moods and turmoil of those times. It is an explosion of sound that has survived time, re-orchestrated not just with new instruments, but with a new way of looking at (and listening to) life. So... Frame your own reality! 00:00 1.
