London in a Day (LHR Layover Guide): 8 Hours Exploring the Best of London!

Don’t spend your layover staring at the departures board! In today's video, we're showing you exactly how to escape London Heathrow Airport (LHR) and see the best of London in just one day! From the moment we hopped on the Heathrow Express, the clock was ticking. We’re hitting the iconic landmarks, catching some royal tradition, and finding the best street food in the city. If you’ve ever wondered if a London layover is worth the effort, the answer is a resounding YES! On this episode of Mapping It, we're spending the day exploring London. We have two main goals for our quick trip to London: see some cool landmarks and eat some good food. As soon as our flight lands, we're hitting the ground running. We buy our Heathrow Express tickets at the LHR airport and take the train into the city. First stop: St Paul's Cathedral! We don't have time to go in, but we admire St Paul's Cathedral from the outside. Then we stop by Buckingham Palace to watch the changing of the guard and the crowds blow us away! At this point, we're halfway through our layover and we enjoy a nice stroll through St James's Park, a stop at Westminster Abbey, and visit Big Ben! For lunch we stop at Borough Market where we pick up some Fish and Chips, a delicious cinnamon roll, and try some Chocolate Covered Strawberries! Our last stop before heading back to the LHR airport is London Bridge! It's a whirlwind adventure in London on a layover but it's so much better than sitting in the airport all day!
