MANUEL GIBRALTAR CONCERT MARCH - Transcribed for band by Maestro Marlon Agapito The Bocaue Youth Concert Band ( BYCB '16 ) takes the challenges of 2017 as they started the year with youthful music at Rizal Park Open-Air Auditorium last January 8, 2017. The Bocaue Youth Concert Band ’16, founded two years ago, is composed of more than 50 young student musicians from Bocaue, Bulacan and nearby towns of Marilao, Balagtas and Sta. Maria and bonded themselves under the tutelage of Sir Al Manuel the band music director and his son Allan Angelo Manuel, the band conductor, both alumni of UST Conservatory of Music. The BYCB ’16 is composed mainly of Elementary, Junior and Senior High School and College students who are presently enrolled in various public and private schools in the vicinity. They started their musical training at Sir Al’s Music and Arts Studio to learn various musical instruments as they underwent regular training under professional musicians and individual instructors. With potentials being seen among members, they had their first public appearance in a New Year Concert held last December, 2015 followed by series of religious musical engagements in the parish during various town festivities. The young band had its first active participation in serious music during the Bocaue town fiesta as they joined the parade of bands and a great performance during the Serenata ng Banda held in honor of the town’s patron saint in July of 2016. With able support from their parents, teachers and friends, the band grew in numbers and committed themselves to make a name of their own in the field of band music. The band had their Launching Concert and Induction Ceremonies last December 3, 2016 witnessed by hundreds of people who filled the Church of St. Martin of Tours in Bocaue, Bulacan. No other than Colonel Xavier Celestial, PSG Band Commanding Officer and PHILBANDA President witnessed the said event and led the band induction ceremonies. Prior and after to the said event, the band appeared in series of musical performances in various schools, churches and Christmas concerts and festivities where they gained valuable musical exposure and experience in preparation for the much awaited Concert at the Park this 2017. Aside from the said line-up of activities, the band is actively participating in Liturgical and Devotional Celebrations of the parish of St. Martin of Tours in Bocaue, Manila and nearby parishes. The Bocaue Youth Concert Band ’16, maybe considered the newest organized band in the land today. Young as they are, they are determine to continue their service to their local community as they represent the youthful sector. With guidance from their teachers and mentors, the dream of making it in the big stage in the future is not too far. Their concert appearance in this famous Rizal Park Open-air Auditorium is just the beginning of a series of musical memories which the kids which cherish as they embark in the bigger musical challenges ahead of them in the nearest future.
