Marco Polo Sheep/Ibex in Tajikistan 1,260 YD new record shot December 2023 bucket list trip

Truly the trip of a life time to visit Turkey and then hunt the Pamir Mountains that go up to 25,000 feet in the incredible country of Tajikistan. Some times, 30 year dreams do come true ........ The entire trip was epic, and especially the hunt which these pics and videos can't do justice to, you need to go. It's a definitely a varsity hunt, not for the JV. The altitude, shot angles and all shots being over 700 yards were quite challenging. Trying to breathe up there is like running while breathing through a straw, it's tough to just catch your breath while walking.. As any hunter knows, incredible opportunities can happen very quickly which was the case with the record shot. There simply was no time to get any video. From the moment of seeing the huge ram, exiting the vehicle and taking the first shot at 1,100 yards it was under 60 seconds. It was a hit, we learned later, but not lethal. The second shot was roughly 60 seconds after that and the Gods shined on us for that shot, the ram didn't take a step ..... Full disclosure practicing at the 1,000 yard range all summer didn't hurt ........ Definitely risky, questionable and not advised to take that long of a hunting shot, but it was by far the largest ram we'd seen in several days, and why one needs to practice out to 1,000 yards for this hunt. It was that last chance on a monster ram, there he goes over the skyline, send it or go home wondering what might have been shot .......... It was a great team effort from start to finish with the custom rifle, ammo, and long range training.
