Major U.S. Visa Changes for Africa Begin August 1—Is Your Embassy Affected?

Major changes are coming to U.S. visa processing in Africa. Effective August 1, 2026, the U.S. Department of State will move routine visa services from several African posts to designated regional hubs. This affects tourist and business visas, petition-based work visas, family- and employment-based immigrant visas, K fiancé visas, adoption cases, Diversity Visas, and follow-to-join refugee and asylee cases. In this video, we explain which African posts are affected, where the regional hubs are located, what happens to existing appointments, what DV applicants should know and why some applicants may have to travel to another African country.
