The war in Ukraine is reaching its climax, and anyone who believes they have the escalation under control is mistaken: one failure, and Europe will face a continental war. Political analyst Vitaly Kulik, on Yuriy Romanenko's show, analyzes the moment the war entered after one of the heaviest ballistic strikes on Kyiv and the first Ukrainian strike on the Omsk Oil Refinery – at a depth of 2,800 kilometers. After the climax, both sides will panic and de-escalate, but neither will be able to maintain control. Meanwhile, the strikes deep into Russia are only just beginning. Omsk is just the first warning: Ukraine has the potential to create problems for its adversary with energy, logistics, and transport hubs—challenges that Russia has never faced deep within its territory. Russia will respond, Ukraine will seek asymmetrical responses. This is a vortex of escalation, from which it is very difficult to escape. Further on, the scale is larger. According to Kulik, the end of the Ukrainian war is only possible in the form of a new world order: the European Union and NATO will be shaken up, new alliances will begin to form within them, and the CSTO will once again prove that it is a suitcase without a handle. New fronts are likely to emerge – in Asia, Africa, the Middle East: war is global, and when the stakes rise in one theater, they are raised in others. The China factor deserves a separate analysis. The hope that Beijing will step in and end the war is an illusion: China has neither the tools nor the interest in reconciling anyone. But there is a benefit: the West will be weakened, Russia will become Beijing's full client, and Europe will become a willing partner in trade disputes. And the final touch: Washington is convinced that it is the scriptwriters of this entire process. Having survived more than one crisis, they still don't see the pitfalls they're stepping on.
