ABOUT ARROW 2 - THE SUN AND THE FLOWER: The second arrow, THE SUN AND THE FLOWER, combines different views on the relationship between the SUN and life on Earth. Using excerpts from Vladimir Verndasky's book BIOSPHERE, Ailton Krenak narrates the profound interaction of cosmic rays with green matter, which transforms the Earth into a living supra-organism. A vision of life where everything is absolutely interconnected, from cyanobacteria to ozone. Photosynthesis is presented as the key to maintaining dynamic equilibrium and regulating the Biosphere. The Gaia Theory flows in dialogue with the Yanomami understanding of the suspension of the sky. Beyond the scientific narrative, it is an arrow propelled, in its essence, by the Guarani narrative about Nhanderu, the unfolding of darkness into sun and sun into flower. A dream of Ailton Krenak to postpone the end of the world. In 2021, six arrows will be released. Each arrow is composed by a story - narrated by Ailton Krenak -, images and video excerpts compiled: we use the "images composting" concept (artworks, nature and scientific videos, cave paintings, mythological works) as well as animations made by two Brazilian artists and an original soundtrack conceived by the musicians Lucas Santanna and Gilberto Monte. This audiovisual movie hasn't created new images, it is an assemblage of existing material. The arrow is a way to spread the content we treat at Selvagem, a cycle of studies on life that aims to shed light on different knowledges: traditional, indigenous, scientific and artistic. The arrows are aimed at the general public and are also an invitation for schools, universities, cultural institutions and educational projects to access multicultural narratives. FLECHA SALVAGEM would like to give rise to new questions about life. The access to this material free of charge, everything will available on our youtube channel, with english subtitles. The arrows will be accompanied by SELVAGEM NOTEBOOKS to download for free with further information, suggestions of activities and reflections.
