Allan Holdsworth at the Tralf Sept 21, 1991 - "Devil Take The Hindmost"

Allan Holdsworth, Chad Wakerman, Skuli Sverrisson & Steve Hunt play Allan's tune "Devil Take the Hindmost" from Metal Fatigue at the Tralfamadore Cafe, Buffalo, NY on 09/21/91. Posted in accordance with the Holdsworth Family Bootleg Project. Not for profit and no copyright owned nor implied!! #AnalogAmnesty I went to this concert back in '91 at the Tralf in Buffalo. First time we met Allan. A guy at my table made a recording of the show with a small stereo condenser mic on metal cassette, then dubbed a copy for me (also on metal cassette), and sent it to me in the mail. It's only an open-air recording to a small microphone, so it doesn't sound as good as some others out there, but I'm proud to have brought it back to what I feel is some level of sonic glory compared to the original. (Lots of work to try to tamp Chad's drums down a bit since we were so close to the stage.) I digitized this in 2008 through Apogee converters at 88.2k 24-bit, but the final files are just 44.1/16 - doesn't really sound any different since the source is cassette, but if you're 'resolution crazy' and want the original transfer, just let me know. I spent YEARS tweaking this recording with UA plug-ins and such - many years before that listening to a copy in the car, and now I'm very happy to finally be able to share it with you! (btw, I'm sure this concert's already in a lot of people's collections, but this one's an uncompressed 2nd generation of the original). I'm sorry that Allan's guitar is a just little low in the mix, though. Here's a preview of Devil Take the Hindmost; the pics I took on the same night. P.S. - The first song on each "side" is just slightly muffled for the first 20-30 sec as the guy doing the recording used a knit hat to cover the recorder and then revealed it as the first songs began.
