Exposing widespread betta fish neglect at pet chains

Documenting the conditions of betta fish at 14 different ‪@petco‬ and ‪@petsmart‬ stores. Nearly every location had bettas in poorly maintained water, exhibiting signs of stress and illness. This points to it being a widespread issue with the prevailing system of displaying betta fish in cups. The corporate leadership of these large pet chains needs to take accountability and make fundamental changes to their way of displaying bettas (at the bare minimum a rack system with larger holding spaces, heating and filtration) or stop selling them entirely.
