Salgueiro Maia e a Revolução dos Cravos em Portugal
Salgueiro Maia and the 25th of April 1974. A rigorous and engaging story of the Cavalry Captain who stopped a regime without firing a shot. In Mozambique and Guinea, Salgueiro Maia forged the character that would make him, at age 29, the commander of the armored column that descended from Santarém on Lisbon in the early morning of April 25th. But behind the historic photograph, the captain biting his lip in Terreiro do Paço, lies a story of Africa, of loyalty to fallen comrades, and of an integrity that cost him dearly after the revolution he led. In this documentary from Navegar Histórico, we reconstruct his tactical and human profile with complete historical accuracy, with verified dates, unit numbers confirmed by military archives, and the real names of the men who, inside the M47 tanks, refused to fire.
