Blue Carbon in Benin Mono Biosphere Reserve: a Nature-based solution to climate change
In the Mono Biosphere Reserve in Benin, Blue Carbon Credits are being generated from Mangrove forests. The money that is acquired from selling these credits, is used to restore nature and create a stable source of funding for conserving the site. IUCN NL, Eco-Benin and the UN Environment Programme launched this project with a specific goal in mind: to measure, protect and enhance the value of this naturally stored carbon.
