All commentators agree that the blessed land in this verse is the land of Sham and Palestine. For example, in the Digital Qur'an it is mentioned that what is meant by the country in the description of the verse above is Syria and Palestine. God blessed that country, because most of the prophets came from and this country and its land were fertile. Palestine, for example, is said to be one of the oldest countries in the world. And in Palestine, specifically Jerusalem, this city is called the City of Three Faiths. That's how Karen Armstrong called it.
