Ski Descent (July 2023) Peak Lenin - 7,134m

July 2023 - Peak Lenin is a 7,134m (23,406') summit in the Pamir Mountains. Also known as Abu Ali Ibn Sino Peak or Lenin Chokusu, it has a storied mountaineering and ski history, and is a popular test piece for aspiring mountaineers and Snow Leopards. We traveled to Kyrgyzstan in Summer 2023 to try our hand at skiing Pik Lenin. This video is essentially a video diary. Raw and amateur, it is the result of the few times that we were thinking enough to pull the camera out. Using Central Asia Travel for BC and ABC lodging and food and horses for some gear transfer, we attempted the mountain unsupported above ABC. 10 days after arriving at basecamp, we were able to successfully summit and ski Pik Lenin on July 12th, 2023. The same day in fact, that 4 others summited and descended Lenin, a Russian guide and two Swiss/French skiers and one Kyrgz local, Maks. You'll see their tracks in the video. What was the hurry? Well we were on a compressed timeline in order to attempt to Khan Tengri after 'acclimatizing' on Lenin, which we did, but that is a story for another time.
