"Triumph of the Heart" is a moving drama based on the true story of Saint Maximilian Maria Kolbe, a Franciscan friar who gave his life for a fellow prisoner in the German concentration camp at Auschwitz. The film is directed by American Anthony D'Ambrosio, who decided to tell this story from a slightly different perspective. The film begins where most stories about Father Kolbe end—on death row. It is in this confined space that the most poignant part of the story unfolds, presented with extraordinary sensitivity and spiritual depth. Flashbacks allow viewers to revisit the most important moments in the saint's life, but it is his final days that are the heart of the story.
