TRIBUN-VIDEO.COM - Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) politician Mohamad Guntur Romli criticized a discussion event featuring several ministers at Gadjah Mada University (UGM). According to Guntur Romli, campuses should not be used as platforms for political image building or government propaganda. Through his personal X account on Monday (June 15, 2026), Guntur Romli highlighted the student protests that occurred during an event titled "Pancasila Unifies the Indonesian Nation" held at UGM. He criticized the event's format, which only featured ministers as speakers without involving lecturers and students equally in the discussion. According to him, this situation made the event seem one-way and didn't provide adequate space for dialogue for the academic community. Guntur Romli likened the situation to someone coming to someone else's house and speaking as they pleased without involving the host in the conversation. Therefore, he considered it understandable that students rejected and protested the event. In another post, Guntur Romli even called the activity propaganda by the government's political buzzers. He believes that campuses should be spaces for the exchange of open, critical ideas, and involve all academic elements equally. Previously, several UGM students protested during the event.
