Today we visited the beautiful town of Lajas, located in southwestern Puerto Rico. Its name comes from the location of a Spanish settlement in the 18th century, near a spring, which was rich in smooth stones known as "lajas." It is also known as the Cardinal City, named after the late Cardinal Luis Aponte Martinez, and Los Tira Piedras, for the formation of stones in its soil. It also has a tourist attraction that has a significant economic impact on the city, called La Parguera. A place that, due to its geographical location, is attractive to tourists and locals. Its name, La Parguera, comes from the abundance and fishing of snapper, a species of fish that thrives in subtropical environments and is abundant there.
